Michigan Wolverines have landed a commitment from 2027 three-star edge rusher Ifeanyi Emedobi, who announced his decision late last week.
Emedobi, a 6-foot-2, 214-pounder from Fort Wayne, Indiana, explained that the coaching staff played a significant role in his decision, particularly defensive line coach Lewis Powell.
The whole d-line staff is amazing, Emedobi told Rivals' Allen Trieu, with Coach Powell having a wealth of knowledge along with Double D and coach Black.
Emedobi also praised the team's culture, stating that the staff is well-connected and has the means to help him grow in all aspects, adding that the proximity to his home was also a factor.
He is the No. 441 overall prospect in the class, per Rivals' Industry Rankings, and the third edge rusher to commit to Michigan in 2027.
Asa Burch, the son of former Michigan edge rusher Alfie Burch, visited the team last week, including attending the Big Man camp, where he spent time with defensive ends coach Lewis Powell.
Burch, a 6-foot-5, 220-pounder from Warren, Ohio, is ranked No. 127 overall in his class on the Rivals Industry Rankings.
He discussed the importance of education and the connection between coaches and players, stating that these factors are winning traits.
Burch is expected to return for Michigan's Week 2 game vs Oklahoma and holds other offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Oregon, and Tennessee.
The Michigan Wolverines hosted several committed prospects and top uncommitted targets in the 2027 class over the weekend for their annual Victor's Weekend.
Emedobi's commitment is a significant boost to the team's recruiting efforts, and his decision highlights the impact of the coaching staff on prospective players.
The team's culture and proximity to his home were also key factors in Emedobi's decision, demonstrating the importance of these aspects in recruiting top talent.
As the recruiting season continues, the Michigan Wolverines will look to build on this momentum and secure commitments from other top prospects, including Burch and other highly regarded players.
