Michigan Wolverines flipped the switch on Lincoln Mageo’s recruitment late Tuesday, securing the four-star offensive lineman to the 2026 class.
Lincoln Mageo, a 6-5, 310-pound tackle from Las Vegas, picked Michigan over offers from Alabama, Ohio State and USC. The Wolverines beat out several Power Five programs to land the nation’s No. 187 overall prospect, per 247Sports composite rankings.
Mageo fills a need on the offensive line, a unit that returns four starters but lost All-Big Ten left tackle LaDarius Henderson to the NFL Draft. The 2025 group allowed 21 sacks, tied for 10th-most in the Big Ten, so adding a high-upside tackle like Mageo gives Sherrone Moore’s staff another blue-chip piece up front.
And the timing matters. Michigan opens against Western Michigan on September 5, 2026, at home. Mageo can push for early playing time if he wins the right tackle spot in fall camp. The Wolverines also bring back center Olusegun Oluwatimi, a Rimington Trophy finalist, to anchor the interior.
Mageo will enroll this summer and join the offensive line room immediately. Moore has already called the 2026 class one of the deepest in recent memory, and Mageo’s addition only tightens the pack. The Wolverines also have a top-10 class nationally, per several recruiting services, led by five-star quarterback Jase Richardson.
So the real question is how quickly Mageo can contribute. The Wolverines need proven pass protection if they want to climb back into the College Football Playoff hunt. Mageo’s size and athleticism give him a shot to earn snaps early, especially if injuries pop up along the line.
